Ethics in Engineering

As a group, we made a 'Case Studies' presentation. We researched the New Orleans levee system failure and discussed the cause and engineering morals that led to the failure as well as its impact of it.

Our class also had a debate, with the class splitting into two sides, on the ethics of the "Monsters Inc" world and the powering methods of its world.

02

Physics Lab

Our engineering class has also experimented with different forces in physics labs.

In our 'Simple Machine Lab,' we measured the forces and determined the efficiency for each type of tool, such as a pulley or lever.

In the 'Internal Forces Lab,' we measured the force needed to shear or break bolts of different diameters to calculate the stress and strain and analyze the relationship between them.

In the Scientific Research Assignment, we were to research a paper related to our capstone project to understand the structure of a scientific paper better and learn a particular principle.

Having the same structure as the assignment above, we had a journal analysis. This time the paper was on Einstein's Theory of Relativity in which we learned about the mathematical and conceptual proofs of relativity.

Sticky Wicket Challenge JPL Invention Challenge

The goal of this challenge was to design and create a device that could successfully launch balls accurately into the target 'wickets.' We also made supporting content of the design such as a poster, research document, and commercial of the device.

Capstone Project: Airline Luggage Tracking

Airline luggage tracking was our capstone project. It uses a GPS tracker through an Arduino powered by a rechargeable battery. This is then put into a 3D-printed case with a leather strip that can be attached to luggage handles. With this prototype, lost luggage can be minimized.
