For my second semester of senior year, I am excited about the upcoming rock climbing competitions. Hopefully, I do well in them. I am also relieved that I will soon be finished with my college applications, letting me have extra time to do other things. For the capstone project, our problem of recovering lost items has already been somewhat solved. I fear that my group will be unable to create something better than what already exists on the market.
The difference between products made for profit and products made to benefit others is significant. While those made for profit will have its price marketed up in order for the business to make profit, products made solely to benefit others will not have prices marked up. They will have genuine products that can better the community or society. Although this can also be true for products made for profit, it is not the first goal in mind for the company. The way a business gets its fundings are vastly different as well. The for-profit has investors while non-profits will have donations and any money will be reinvested. An example of a product made for profit is the Iphone by Apple, a company that wants to grow its company and make money. An example of a product made to benefit others on the other hand are products such as the app SafeNight by Caravan Studios and Safe Shelter Collaborative, which help better the community by negating domestic violence by funding shelters.
